COURSE: “ANIMAL CELL TECHNOLOGY: DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION OF BIOTHERAPEUTICS”

Date: 31/10/22 al 05/11/22
Coordinators: Dr. Natalia CEAGLIO
Dr. Marcos OGGERO EBERHARDT

The course corresponds to a post-IX SLATCC activity which is organized by the Biotechnological Center of Litoral, School of Biochemistry and Biological Sciences, Universidad Nacional del Litoral. Santa Fe, Santa Fe Province, Argentina.

Aims and contents
The goal of the course is to offer an overall view and cover specific aspects regarding animal cell technology for the production of biopharmaceuticals, including new products, biosimilars and biobetters.
The proposal includes an intensive, hands on, 6-day training course combining lectures, workshops, practical work in a wet lab and discussions of the following topics:
• Basics aspects of animal cell cultivation
• Mammalian cell glycosylation of proteins
• In vitro mammalian cell metabolism
• Generation of recombinant cell lines
• Bioreactors
• In vitro cell-based bioassays
• Bioengineering stem cell cultivation: 3D approaches for pre-clinical research and cell therapy
• Therapeutic antibodies production
• Recombinant vaccines, vectors for gene therapy and VLPs
• Stem cell culture for cell therapy
• Recovery and purification of biologics
• Biotherapeutics characterization
• Biotechnological patents in biopharmaceuticals production
• Bioinnovators, biosimilars and biobetters
• Regulatory aspects in biologics production
